End of Week Announcements for August 21

Attend Shabbat Services

Please make a special effort to attend our upcoming Shabbat worship services. Many families are traveling this weekend. Your attendance at Shabbat services will help make sure that we continue to have a minyan. Susan Bodell will be leading services tonight.

Big Day Planned for Sunday – Be Here!

Join us THIS Sunday, August 22, from 10:00am to 1:00pm, for the annual Membership Brunch.
Register your child for religion school. Enjoy good food and conversation. Kibbitz with your friends and meet new people.
Kids should be sure and bring swimsuits because there will be a water slide for their entertainment.

Religion School classes begin on Sunday, Aug. 29.

New Classes Planned

While here, you can also sign up for two new offerings.

Irwin Kantrowitz will be teaching a series of five classes about the Friday night service and the development of Jewish prayer. His classes will be on Tuesday evenings at 7:30, beginning October 5. The cost is only $40 for Shomrei Torah members and $60 for nonmembers.

Visiting Rabbi Aderet Drucker will be having an adult education class on Sunday mornings when she visits. The class is free, but please register so coordinator David Edelson will know how many people to expect.

Directory Changes Needed
Please call or email the office this week to either make changes or keep your directory entry and greeting the same as last year. The printing deadline is fast approaching.

Notes of Appreciation

Many thanks to Irwin Kantrowitz, Chuck Aronovitch, and Susan Bodell for spending time at the synagogue this week so the building could be kept open while new heating and air conditioning equipment was installed and maintenance was performed on older units. Of course, thanks also go to Building Vice President Dwight Kingsbury, who did all the research needed to buy the correct equipment and make all the arrangements.

This week’s Oneg is sponsored by the Dave and Mona Markell family in memory of Mona’s Father, Ira Jacobs.

The Kiddush luncheon on Saturday is sponsored by Carol Chenoweth and Ray Chambers.

Note of Apology

The Torah Commentary supplied on Friday by The United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism is not available this week because of computer operator ignorance. Seriously. It is an error I have been trying to correct all day and cannot. I hope to get instruction on the specific problem on Sunday. Thank you for your patience.
