Shana Tova! Happy New Year!
With the celebration of Rosh Hashana, the Jewish New Year, on the first of Tishrei, 5772 we began an exciting and festive month. Ten days after Rosh Hashana, we observe Yom Kippur, the Day of Atonement. We transition from this time of personal and communal introspection to a public celebration five days later, where we enjoy meals, family and friends in the sukkot, or booths, we have built to celebrate the holiday of Sukkot. The last several days of Sukkot, we celebrate Hoshana Rabah and Shmini Atzeret followed by the celebration of Simchat Torah, where we dance and sing with the Torah. (more…)
