Shomrei Torah Announcements for the Week of December 11-17, 2011

Friday, Dec. 16:  Congregation Shomrei Torah Annual Latke Dinner

Please make plans to join us on Friday, December 16 at 6:00 PM (before services).

Menu: Baked fish, salad, & an array of delectable latkes – a vegetarian friendly meal.

The cost for adults is $12, for children ages 4-12 is $6, and under age 4 is free. Please RSVP to the synagogue office by Dec. 12, by calling (850) 893-9674, or by emailing the office. Payment should be made in advance; please make checks payable to “Shomrei Torah Sisterhood.”

Services this Week

Following the Latke Dinner,  Erev Shabbat services, led by Sean Ehrlich, will begin at 8:00 p.m., followed by an Oneg Shabbat sponsored by Sandler and Barbara Dickson, in honor of the yahrzeit of Murry Levy.

Saturday, Dec. 17:  Shabbat morning services, including a D’var Torah by Dwight Kingsbury, will begin at 9:30 a.m., and will be followed by a Kiddush lunch sponsored by Carol Chenoweth and Ray Chambers.

Mens Club Poker Night 

Thursday, December 15: Men’s Club will be having their monthly Poker game night at 7 p.m.!!

Religion School Hanukkah Party

Sunday, Dec. 18: The Religion school is hosting a Hanukkah party, starting at 10 a.m.  Men’s Club is making latkes and we will have a jump machine for the religion school.  Everyone is invited to attend! This will be another opportunity for you to stop by our gift store and do a little shopping!!

Board Meeting 

Sunday, Dec. 18:  Shomrei Torah board meeting, at 7:00 p.m.  Both outgoing and incoming boards are encouraged to attend. 

Religion school Announcement

Religion school will be open this Wednesday and Sunday following Winter Break. We will return on January 8, 2012.

Friday, Oct. 14:         Erev Shabbat services 8:00 p.m., led by Dr. Bill Kaufman, followed by Oneg Shabbat sponsored by Carol and Brian Berkowitz, in honor of Carol’s birthday, and by Sandler and Barbara Dickson, in honor of the yahrzeit of Catherine Levy

Saturday, Oct. 15:    Shabbat morning services 9:30 a.m., followed by a special Kiddush lunch in celebration of the birthdays of Dan and Lincoln Markel, and in honor of Barbara Abrams Annual Sukkot Progressive Dinner 7:00 p.m.

James Streem Concert At Shomrei Torah

Tallahassee Jewish Federation is pleased to announce that FSU Professor Emeritus James Streem will be performing his annual benefit piano recital on Sunday, October 30, at 4:00 PM at Shomrei Torah.  The program of Von Weber, Schumann, Chopin and more will be followed by a wine and hors d’oeuvres reception.
